Rubber & Steel cafe racer photoshoot

2/17/2017

Congratulations to Rubber & Steel on a well-deserved first featured story in the latest edition of French specialized magazine Cafe Racer!

As the young Grenoble-based company prepares to release its first radical customization kit based on the famed 1980s Yamaha Virago motorcycle later this year, that’s great news to see interest building up in the media.

Incidentally, it also felt good to discover one of my photographs from a recent photoshoot we did together. What a looker!

For this very first attempt at capturing the distinctive and beautifully detailed looks of Laurent Piveteau’s first cafe racer prototype the dimly lit, raw and grungy atmosphere of the selected garage location offered a perfect background to reveal the beast.

The motorcycle and the scene's background were lit with off-camera flash. I opted for zoom reflector modifiers for a hard light look with contrast and shadows.

Until Rubber & Steel’s official website goes live and the company’s first custom kits hit the market, be sure to follow them on their Facebook and Instagram channels.
